Day 7: a Goal, a Win and Positive Football

The relief this morning amongst the Greeks was unbelievable. To have finally scored a goal, picked up some points and demonstrate that these players do know how to string a few passes together when they REALLY need to was satisfying. It took a Nigerian (Sani Kaita) to have a brain explosion and some spectacular theatrics from Torosidis that left the Super Eagles playing with ten men which finally saw the Greeks spark into life with positive passes (27 shots on goal), tactics and belief. The BBC described the game as one of the most exciting so far....bloody hell.

After continuous torment (poor tactics and team selection) in previous matches, the Greek Mates contingent abandoned faith that the team would achieve a result - reverse psychology no doubt the order of the day. Well done Haakie and Yoni for having belief, unless of course it was a type error. Overall, it was a low scoring day of results that also saw Supremo George K sneak into the lead again.

Victory for the Greeks and perhaps hope for the next match....against Argentina
