Just a Few Hours to Go

"Worshipped by the masses
and played by superstars from all walks of life,
the World Cup is a celebration of football
as the great equaliser"
John Carlin TIME June 2010

This is it Mates!! Kick off is just hours away and all entries have come in - with some eyebrow raising predictions made for the coming matches and duration of the tournament.

Here is an interesting stat for the team with the Oldest Squad at this year's World Cup and no it is not Italy. "Outside their own World Cup in 66, England have only ever beaten a previous winner of the World Cup, ONCE (Argentina 2002)" Barney Ronay World Cup Daily. And there you have it. So you can tuck away those England scarfs Rayment and Leedham and simply join the Socceroos bandwagon.

As promised, some Spicy Duels have been created for the first time just to add to further rivalry amongst some of the crew. Now if you are feeling a little left out, bear in mind that fines are being dished out to the players that come out at the wrong end with these duels below.

  • Ireland (Joe, Mr Lenny Man & Gav) v France (Motto): This is unfinished business. Unfair? So was Henry's handball.
  • Engand (Rayment & Leedham) v Argentina (Javier): Always unfinished business.
  • Australia (Boss-Walker & Luke) v New Zealand (Blair & Joe)
  • Australia (Boss-Walker (c), Luke, Jeremy, NicO, Jonovsky, Jeremy, Turczynski, Nestor) v Europe (Joe (c), Gav, Mr Lenny Man, Leedham, Rayment, Motto, Javier, Haakie) plus one Argentine: Total Mates Scores determine the outcome, mates cannot let their team down with rubbish predictions or failure to hand their tips. Captains are responsible for team discipline.
Enjoy the tournament and remember these duels above are simply a side show to the bigger picture of being Football4Mates Supremo and that which comes with it. Enjoy the football, the tournament and the ladies in the crowd.
