Stellar Group of Mates Assembled

In celebrating our 20th Anniversary we have assembled a stellar group of mates for our sixth consecutive World Cup. Without doubt this is our finest group of players yet, covering a stack of countries that for one month at least become complete geeks of the world game.

We've brought them in from Vietnam (Do Chi), France (Motto), Germany (Beelitz), Argentina (Javier), Netherlands (Haakie), Macedonia (Jonovsky [FYROM to all our Greek contestants - easy lads]) Ireland (Gav, Mr Lenny Man & Joe S), Serbia (Slavco), England (Rayment and Leedham), Greece (Yanni), Italy (Costantino), New Zealand (Blairos), Israel (Yino), Ukraine/Poland (Turczynski), Cyprus, and of course Australia. Notice that we have separated certain countries from even appearing remotely close to each other (e.g. France and Ireland). New players, new faces with a completely different view of how football should be played, and how tips need to be made. Once again we are a tad disappointed by our Italian contingent who, like at Eurovision, refuse to compete when defeat is Immanent  - can't take dives in this comp Azzuri. We do have Costantino but with a name like that and a Sicilian background qualifies him as Greek.

The competition's originals - Nestor (Italia' 90 Supremo) and Stylianos (USA 94 Supremo) -are back, together with current 2006 World Cup Supremo George K. To date the boys from the Mediterranean have taken all 5 previous titles with mates from the island of Cyprus making up for what their footballers will not achieve during this millennium (nor next) winning three titles with players Joe G (Malta) and Nick G (Greece) cleaning up the reaming two. Based on the quality of mates though, this domination may just about come to an end in 2010. Mates review coming up.

During the lead up to this tournament we're going to unveil some spicy duels just to add some flavour and rivalry amongst our competitors to keep them 'inspired' regardless of their status on the ladder. Though remember that the ultimate prize will be the Supremo title (50% of the entry fee takings), Second prize (25%) and Third (10%). The remaining 15% will be divided between our two Incentive Prizes.

• Obama "Yes We Can" Award - presented to player who predicts the team outside FIFA's Top 10 that goes the furthest during the tournament
• Nestor's Red Mist Award - presented to player who predicts the team which completely looses it's head during the tournament and receives a rash of Red cards.

Our next entry will unveil some mates to watch out for - just to put on the pressure - and personal and team duals that we'll introduce for the first time.
